Riparian Rangers Mississauga Event!

On Saturday, October 18th ACER partnered with the City of Mississauga and EcoSource to deliver a community event as part of the Riparian Rangers Mississauga program. Approximately 95 youth and adult volunteers from the Mississauga Chinese Alliance Church and the Peel Environmental Youth Alliance (PEYA) showed their support for restoring at-risk riparian areas. Thanks to the help of our dedicated volunteers, over 200 native trees and shrubs were planted which contributed to the City of Mississauga’s One Million Tree goal. Volunteers also assisted ACER with monitoring 10% of each tree species planted as well as removing invasive species such as buckthorn. Data and pictures will be posted soon.

The next Riparian Ranger events are scheduled for October 22nd at White Willow Common (near Mavis Road and Courtneypark Drive West) and October 28th at Birchwood Park (near Lakeshore Road West and Clarkson Road North).
